Clearing the obstacles
This project increased the overall footprint of the existing range and replaced most of the existing target emplacements and infrastructure. There were 126 new target emplacements and 30 new firing positions. Other range additions included the construction of target maintenance roads, service roads, tank trails with hasty battle positions, tank battle positions with blast mats, fire breaks, machine gun bunkers, fighting trenches, breach walls, a 5-building live-fire village, and mortar simulation. The overall project site encompassed an area of 2,200 acres and required an extensive amount of site work, including 850,000 cubic yards of earthwork and 300,000 tons of aggregate produced from an onsite quarry.
